US-based Islamic Centre to honour Bayero, others

UNIVERSAL Islamic Centre of the United States of America is planning to honour late Hassan Ciessa, the emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr) Ado Bayero and Khalipha Sheikh Isyaku Rabi‘u for their contributions to the development of Islam world over.
The President of the Centre, Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Bin Umar made the disclosure when he paid a courtesy call on Emir Bayero at his palace yesterday.
Sheikh Umar explained that late Sheikh Hassan Ciessa would be honoured posthumously as a reward for his contribution to the progress of Islam, most especially to Dariqah in America and the world at large.
As for the emir, Sheikh Umar said he would be honoured as Royal Ambassador of Peace, while Khalipha Tijjaniyya Sheikh Isyaku Rabi‘u would also get an award as Ambassador for Peace.
The president revealed that other great Islamic scholars would be honoured and invited to the occasion.
He expressed gratitude to the emir for the support he has been giving and his efforts at ensuring unity among Muslims.
Meanwhile, Emir Bayero has praised the effort of the council in promoting Islam in Nigeria.
According to the emir, their activities would go along way in strengthening the relationship among Muslims the world over.
Emir Bayero enjoined members of the council not to relent in their efforts toward promoting Islam.
Earlier speaking, the leader of the council, Professor Ahmad Shafi‘u had said they were at the palace to intimate the emir about the activities of the council, saying the aim of establishing the council was to promote the affairs of Islam as practiced in other countries such as Nigeria and particularly Kano where there was Sharia Commission, Hisbah Board, Zakat Commission among others.
He added that they were there also to seek for the emir’s advice on ways to run the affairs of the council.
