NACCIMA to partner FG, states

The national president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Dr. (Sir) Simon Chukwuemeka Okolo has proclaimed that the association will pursue better relationship between the federal, state and local governments with the business community in the true spirit of Public Private Partnership (PPP) and to address issues hindering rapid Industrialization in the country.
Dr Okolo who made this remark in his acceptance speech as the 14th president of NACCIMA at the 48th Annual General meeting and Conference of the association held in Aba, Abia state, said NACCIMA will network with the government to put in place better infrastructure (electricity, good roads , water supply) for the smooth running of business in the country.
The NACCIMA president further reeled out 10- point challenges facing the association, which he pledged to tackle with his team of executives , part of which include further consolidation of NACCIMA secretariat with an optional utilization of the land available around the complex, including capacity building for NACCIMA members and staff, further improvement on the image and role of the private sector as the engine of growth of the economy and providing leadership, among others.
He observed that the challenges ahead of NACCIMA is really difficult but called for all hands to be on deck to surmount the odds.
Dr Okolo who accepted the mantle of leadership with the deepest resolve, promised to do all he can for the good and well being of the association which is the voice of business in Nigeria and for the peace and socio economic development of Nigeria as a nation.
Speaking while performing the investiture, Dr Ignastius I. Adaji the out going NACCIMA President decried the death of infrastructural facilities in the country making it clear that Nigeria needs about 100,000 mega watts of electricity to industrialize and urged government to wake up to the glaring prospects in the country.
Earlier in his remark, the president of the host chamber of commerce ACCIMA Elder Emmanuel Adaelu, speaking on the theme of the conference “Managing the windfall from Oil revenue and infrastructural provisions, a panacea for the growth of the national economy,” urged the government to use the funds at its diposal to grow the private sector by providing them with adequate infrastructure.
