Nafada urges understanding on power probe report
Rep Bayero Nafada, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, has called for patience and understanding over the delay in the consideration of the reports of the Power and NNPC probes.
This was sequel to the observation made by Rep Mohammed Ndume, the House Minority Leader, that since the report of the power probe was presented, members had yet to get copies.
Ndume, ANPP leader, noted with regret that names of members of the committee saddled with the responsibility of investigating the NNPC had not made public.
He said Rep Ita Enang, the Chairman, House committee on Rules and Business, had equally kept members in the dark on what was happening to the report, while the leadership of the House also kept mute about it.
Ndume said since the inauguration of the joint committee on the investigation of NNPC, the committee held three days public hearing, after which nothing had been heard about its assignment.
Nafada, who presided over the plenary session, said members could not get their copies of the power probe report because of its volume.
He said the report contained about 10,000 pages, and would take the committee almost three months to complete the copies for members.
He said the committee on NNPC probe was doing a good job, and called for patience and understanding by members, to enable it to do a thorough job.
