LG Auditor-General post: KNHA rejects nominee, proceeds on recess
By USMAN GWADABE
KANO state House of Assembly yesterday rejected the appointment of Ali Ben Musa as Local Governments Auditor-General, until his curriculum vitae is presented to the House while the appointment of Barr. Salihu Ahmad Bala as member in the state Judicial Service Commission was confirmed by the legislators, even as the House goes for 40 days recess from today.
Announcing the resolution on the Auditor-General during the House proceedings, Speaker Abdul‘aziz Garba Gafasa said due to non-attachment of the proposed person’s curriculum vitae for the appointment, the lawmakers could not deliberate on the issue.
The Speaker therefore urged the executive to provide the House with the full data of the proposed appointee to enable it confirm him or otherwise.
Earlier presenting the curriculum vitae of Barr. Bala as member of the state Judicial Service Commission, Minority Leader, Hon. Gambo Sallau (PDP-Kiru) described him as a seasoned banker and veteran politician who twice chaired Madobi local government council.
“Barr. Bala was one-time a special assistant to the state governor on irrigation matters (2002-2003) and until his appointment, he was the Principal Partner Salisu Bala & Co (Legal Practitioners),” Sallau explained.
Supporting the appointment, Hon. Muhammad Mukhtar Chiromawa (PDP-Kura G/Malam) described Barr. Bala as a humble and well versed person in both Islamic and Civil Law, noting that the appointee would serve as a representative of state youth.
Others who contributed on the credibility of the appointee included Hon. Ibrahim Abba (ANPP-Garko) and Hon. Habib Sale Minjibir (ANPP-Minjibir)..
