Late Isyaku's murder case mentioned in court

THE case of the brutal murder of Kano state sports administrator and politician, Alhaji Isyaku Muhammad, came up for mention yesterday at Kano state High Court Number 18, Miller Road.
About 11 people are charged with the killing of the deceased on the 22nd day of September, 2002 in his house at Number 6, Masama Close, Hotoro GRA, Kano.
The accused who include Rotimi Abeh, Kabiru Sule, Musa Babatunde (Dan Yorubawa) and Sunday Ajokwu, are currently facing murder charges.
Other suspects are Rabi`u Saleh, Akilu Bichi, Akilu Magaji and Bashir Black all at large, while Hassan Dan Barno, Nura Isyaku and Pius are now deceased.
The accused were among others charged for arming themselves with gun, steel cutlasses, sticks and other dangerous weapons who entered the deceased’s house at the said day, shot him and attacked members of his house.
According to the charge, the accused were said to have went away with one million Naira (N1,000,000.00) cash, one double barrel gun, three GSM mobile phones, jewelleries and other valuables worth more than one million Naira.
Meanwhile, on the third count charge, the accused are charged of committing culpable homicide punishable with death under Section 221 (b) of the Penal Code Cap 105 Laws of Kano state 1991 by causing the death of Alhaji Isyaku Muhammad.
The presiding judge, Hon. Justice Abdullahi Mahmoud Bayero, has slated 24th of December, 2008 for further mention of the case, when counsels to all the accused are expected to be at the court.
