KNSG tackles refuse, road accidents ...Pumps more money to effect

IN its resolve to sanitise the environment, Kano state Executive Council yesterday approved the sum of N123,731,719.50 to be expended by the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) for the purchase of additional equipment, rehabilitation of some existing ones and carrying out massive refuse evacuation programme.
According to a release signed by the state commissioner of information, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, the Council also noted that the progressive increase in traffic volume in the state is continuously causing rampant abuse of traffic regulations.
He stressed that the problem in turn leads to increased road traffic accidents and daily loss of innocent lives, stating that to curtail these menace, the State Executive Council has approved the sum of N167,631,357.50 to be expended by the ministry of works, housing and transport for the rehabilitation of road signs and markings, dividers, guard rails and provision of solar road stands.
He explained that the action will reduce traffic problems to the barest minimum, stating that the council also thanked the generality of the people of the state for their continued support and cooperation.
