Katsina council earmarks N40m for teachers' salary

Katsina local government council in Katsina state is spending about N40 million monthly for payment of teachers' salaries.
The education secretary of the area, Alhaji Salisu Lawal Uli told Daily Triumph in an exclusive interview that the salary was for 1,477 teachers and 227 non-teaching staffs.
“We are not facing any delay as regard to monthly payment of salary by Katsina local government council” he said.
The education secretary further explained that the local government council had recently purchased N8 million worth of educational materials and distributed to primary schools.
“His words” The local government is in the process o providing permanent site to seven temporary primary schools” Alhaji Salisu who lauded effort of the council for its assistance, further said the council had sponsored training of some teachers.
On Universal Basic Education, He said eight schools have benefited from renovation of classrooms and provision of furniture includes access road.
He said 112 teachers have benefited from workshop organized by state Universal Basic Education Board.
He said currently, the board is constructing classrooms at three primary schools.
